PASEO ARTÍSTICO / SPRING 2026

About the Exhibition
Climate Consciousness was a community-centered exhibition and gathering organized as part of Paseo Artístico in spring 2026. Through ceramics, shared food, and environmentally conscious art practices, we explored our relationship with the earth and the ways creativity can bring people together.
Alongside Gabi Montufar and Maile, I helped bring together an experience that invited community members to connect through art, food, and conversation. The day included a pit firing led by Gabi, a community soup gathering, handmade ceramic bowls available for purchase, and an exhibition of our ceramic compost vessels.About The Exhibition:

A Bowl of Soup, A Moment of Community
As part of the gathering, we prepared soup to share with the community. Gabi, Maile, and I also created handmade ceramic bowls to vend during the event.
Bringing together food and ceramics was a way to make the exhibition feel welcoming and participatory. Sharing a meal created an opportunity for neighbors to gather, slow down, and connect with one another.
Pit Firing & Traditional Ceramic Practices
We began the day with a pit firing led by Gabi Montufar, bringing an outdoor ceramic firing process into the community gathering. The experience offered an opportunity to engage with clay, fire, and the natural elements that shape ceramic traditions.
Starting the day this way helped connect the exhibition's environmental themes with the physical process of working with earth and fire.
Ceramic Compost Vessels
Alongside our community activities, we exhibited ceramic compost vessels that we created. These pieces explored how functional ceramics can encourage us to think differently about waste, sustainability, and our everyday relationship with the environment.
By bringing compost vessels into an exhibition setting, we wanted to connect ordinary household practices with larger conversations about environmental responsibility and care for the earth.
Community Engagement & Event Coordination
Working collaboratively with Gabi and Maile, I helped organize the ceramics and community activities that brought the exhibition together. From preparing bowls to sharing food and displaying our work, the project combined creative practice with hands-on community engagement.
It was an opportunity to think about how exhibitions can be more accessible and interactive, creating experiences where people feel welcome to participate rather than simply observe.Personal Statement
This project reminded me of the ways art can bring people together through simple acts of care. Whether it was sharing a warm bowl of soup, working with clay, or learning about different approaches to sustainability, each part of the day created an opportunity to connect.
I loved being able to combine my ceramic practice with community programming and environmental awareness. It's the kind of work that continues to shape how I think about art, accessibility, and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
