Por las Oraciones que Viven en Mí, 2026

Ceramic, hand-foraged clay

Made from clay I hand-foraged and dug from the earth, this piece fired into a rich iron-red color that immediately reminded me of my abuelita. Red was the color of her hair, my favorite color, and a color I associate with her fiery personality. I created the rosary in honor of the prayers that continue to live through me and the thought of her that has helped me persist through difficult moments. Gold details on selected beads, Christ, and the Virgin Mary reference the Catholic imagery and traditions woven throughout my family, memory, and understanding of devotion.
